Planning The Playground Games For Children

By Enid Hinton

Playground activities are one of the many effective ways to be able to teach kids how to survive in life. Now if one is a teacher of preschool or kindergarten, he should make sure that the playground games that he would plan for the kids are good and also are related to lessons in life. Here are a few good ones that are both fun and educational at the same time.

Probably the most common of all the activities that a teacher to facilitate would of course be the famous tag. Tag is the game wherein there is one it who will try to tag another person so that the other person will become the it. This is a great game to tire out the students because it involves a lot of running and it also teaches them cooperation.

Now tug of war is a very popular game in a lot of schools because it is one that would help students gain physical strength and teach them some values. Now the rules are two teams are going to be pulling a rope in opposite directions trying to bring the rope to their side. This game requires a lot of team effort and will not work unless everyone cooperates.

Another popular game that can be played on the playground is of course monkey in the middle. This is a game wherein one person is in between two teams who are going try to hit him with a ball. Once one person hits him, he will then become the monkey in the middle and the one in the middle has to just avoid getting hit by the ball.

Now another game that needs quite a big number of players would be the game get the flag. Now in this game, the class would first be divided into two big teams that would each have their own respective flags. Now the whole objective of the game is for one to try to grab the flag of the opposing team and not get touched by any of them otherwise he will go to jail.

Now croquet is one fun game that does not require much running and is good for the less sporty children. Basically, two or probably more players have to hit balls of different colors into some hoops with a croquet stick. This is a game that can actually teach tactical ability.

Now dodgeball is yet another great game but it is probably better for the older children who are more sporty. Dodgeball teaches quick thinking, teamwork, and encourages one to boost up his reflexes. Basically, the rules of the game is for a team to grab as many balls as possible and to hit the players of the opposing team with these balls until they are all out.

So basically, those are some of the fun games that children can play during play time. Now a teacher should always make sure that after that he would tell the students the purpose of playing the game right after. This will help them know some life lessons and also be able to apply them as well.
