Understanding Brain Development In Children

The emphasis of science is on the growth of mental and physical structures and the role each of these play in influencing the other through different life stages. Brain development in children has contributed to significant research with regards to the interplay between genetics and environmental factors in growth. Studies have shown that young kids enter into a number of life stages whereby such developmental milestones will have a significant impact on the overall neurons and strengthening of connections.

The newborn brain include over hundreds of billions of neurons, which slowly develop to migrate to specific areas in response to particular stimuli and chemical changes. It is during this stage that parents are often encouraged to introduce different forms of stimuli in a gentle and safe manner that will encourage the further formation of auditory, visual, and similar responses. Such methods can aid in preparing the nervous system for future demands that will be placed on it.

To stimulate optimum growth for infant brains, it is important to introduce specific learning processes at an age appropriate level. This will involve the strengthening and the lengthening of connections between the neurons that assist in aid in better grasping of information. It further assists in the support of autonomic function for breathing, sleeping, and cardiovascular activity.

All parents are required to remain aware of the fact that children in age groups 0 to 3 will form synaptic joins in an efficient manner. Such connections will develop in combination with more structured means of stimulation for the enhancement in communication and learning processes. It is when young ones reach a stage of adolescence that the formation of synapse connections will slow down.

To learn, retain, and adapt the brain continues development in adulthood, but the majority of neuron formation takes place in earliest parts of childhood. Very young infants have not developed a myelin sheath referred to as the white layer that forms around the cortex. This occurs with higher order sensory and motor function including the ability to control thoughts, feelings, and memories.

When children turn 3 years of age, the brain will have grown into its overall adult size. For this reason, it is important to encourage learning processes through the introduction of sensory aids for the formation of stronger and longer connections. Developmental measures will rely on the level of stimulation that is provided for young children in a structured manner.

When it comes to the environment within which children grow, supportive measures can encourage further growth. The process of plasticity is a measure in which the brain changes and adjusts to the external demands that are placed on it. It is important to consider the fact that higher measures will form as children become older.

Once should consider the importance of educational measures in tending to and supporting optimum operation. When methods of learning are introduced at a younger stage involving overall auditory and visual stimulation, it facilitates future mental and physical function. Investing in such processes will aid in facilitating the overall health of young ones.
