Information On Acne Treatment Worcester

The treatment options for acne work through the reducing the production of oil, reduction of inflammation, fighting bacterial infections and speeding cell turnover. For the case of moderate and severe acne, a short course of prescription oral antibiotics will reduce the bacteria in addition to fighting inflammation. Because oral antibiotics were first used in treatment of the condition, there has been a significant increase in resistance in people who use them. Thus when this option is used, the improvements have to be monitored to ascertain that the drugs are helpful. The resistance may also be reduced through the use of other options together with the antibiotics.

Over-the-counter topical treatments are commonly used too. The lotions are capable of drying up the oil, killing bacteria and promoting sloughing. These lotions are normally mild and have such ingredients as salicylic acid, sulfur and resorcinol. They may bring about initial side effects like flaking, skin irritation and dryness. These should cause no need for worry because they improve after the first month.

There is the need to treat the scars that will be left after treating acne. There are various options for this. Soft tissue fillers involve the injection of fat under the skin into the scars for the purpose of filling out or stretching the skin. This will make the scars less noticeable.

More severe scarring is treated using dermabrasion. It involves removing the top layer of the skin by the use of a rapidly rotating wire brush. This will remove surface scars completely, with deeper ones being less visible.
