Screening is a process used to look for cancer before a person has any symptoms of having one. This helps anyone to find any symptom at early stage. Once abnormal tissues are found earlier it would be easier to treat someone. By the time symptoms appear, it also means that cancer may have started to spread. When dentist perform the testing process, they look out for the following symptoms. First is the red or white patches in your mouth. Second, spots that bleed continuously or do not heal over time. Third, a lump or a hard spot in your mouth and fourth is the pain or numbness when you bite down your teeth.

In order to prevent this disease, it is better to consult your doctor and undergo regular screenings. Your dentist checks your overall health during the exam to ensure that you have no any signs of cancers. They will then provide sample of your tissues to the lab for testing. Usually, it occurs in all adults, specifically in older adults. It also occurs often in men and in blacks.

The numbers of new cases and deaths decreasing drastically over the past few years. However, new numbers of cases caused by certain types of HPV has also increased. This is because, it can be passed easily from person to person during sexual activities.
