Steps Needed To Reverse Insulin Resistance

By Lisa Williamson

To reverse insulin resistance is more important today than it was in the past as it has become a widely spread medical syndrome. This is because a greater percentage of patients who are diabetic already have signs of this syndrome. This is a worrying situation because these signs are usually preceded by type II diabetes and associated health problems. Therefore, methods and techniques of reversing it present a big opportunity for the human race.

The roles of insulin in the human body have to be explained so that the syndrome is understood. In simple terms, it is a chemical produced inside the pancreas and its role is to help tissue cells grab sugar components from the blood vessels. The pancreas has censor cells that detect sugar levels in blood levels and then responds by secreting insulin for the body to be able to produce energy from the sugars absorbed. Resistance happens when the cells become unable to absorb sugars.

There exist several methods of tackling this problem. Regular exercise is the most preferred method because most victims experiencing this condition are heavy or obese. This is because excess body fats have surplus sugars that signal the pancreas to release extra hormone in order to return its normal levels. By staying inactive, these levels continuously rise to detrimental levels that result in complex health problems.

Secondly, consuming a good meal can help in reversing this problem. One should steer clear of meals that contain a high glycemic presence. These kinds of meals are loaded with big proportions of processed sugars and fats, and should therefore be shunned. Instead, they should take a balanced meal that contains high fiber, green vegetables, and low natural sugars. These meals assist in a correct metabolism rate and therefore reducing the effects of this syndrome.

Some naturally occurring nutritional supplements are equally important as the diet to be taken. Suggested supplements have a history of being capable to restore the balance in insulin and blood sugar levels. Magnesium, for instance, aids in sugar oxidation but it is regularly lacking in obese patients. Thus, eating magnesium rich food like fresh and green vegetables should be highly recommended.

The individual should strive to handle stressful situations in the best way possible. Failure to do this renders all other initiatives of overcoming the syndrome as pointless. High stress leads to the production of hormones that counter the functions of insulin inside the body by blocking its cell receptors therefore rising blood sugars.

The last course of action is using medications prescribed by doctors. There exist two types of medicines, which function in two distinct ways. The first aid in reducing blood sugar levels by making cells to be more responsive to insulin. The second curtails assimilation of glucose in the intestine thereby decreasing its absorption after eating. Several medications are introduced in the market at all times.

The measures described are not a cure to the ailment but are just preventive measures. Diabetes cannot be cured but it can be prevented by following the right steps. Understanding this concept leads to most lives being saved.
